ElRellano.com - funny stuff (in Spanish)

Been looking at this website for funny Spanish videos and jokes. It's always a test to try and understand some of the jokes because you have to be really in touch with the language used. If you just go for the videos I recommend reading the description carefully (so you're actually doing some Spanish) and then use the video as a reward !!!

Check out: http://www.elrellano.com/

PS - Rellano is the Spanish word for the landing platform of a stair.

Scary Movie 3 (En Espanol Of Course!!!)

Just found the complete movie of Scary Movie 3 on YouTube. Not my personal favourite but still a very funny parody of The Ring and Signs (I think) with some very abstract comedy shall we say. Especially see if you can understand the Spanish rapping at the end of Part 2 !!!

Chinese Prisoners forced to Play Video Games

Now this story might sound like the dream of many young people around the world, but its actually an incredibly sad rejection of basic human priviledges.

Basically many Chinese prisoners are being forced to play the massive online role playing games like World of Warcraft repetitively for hours on end - their achievements in the gaming world are then sold to other game players in exchange for money in the real world (without any reward for the prisoner or choice on the part of the prisoner either).

A slightly different Spanish lesson ...

Just found a really random set of YouTube videos I thought you guys might enjoy. There not actual lessons but use a selection of Spanish to English translation puns - really clever and also pretty tricky to pick up some of them. See what you think ...

Roland Garros ...

I'm loving watching the tennis at Roland Garros right now and especially supporting super Heather Watson. Also watched the Nadal vs. Isner match yesterday - Rafa pushed a little too close for his fans out there I should think!!!

Anyway if you're a bit of a tennis nut like me why not check out the coverage of the French Open at http://www.elmundo.es/elmundodeporte/tenis.html . There is good coverage of all the matches and a few videos as well.

Also an interview with Rafa is available here which might interest some of you:

Anuncios de Renault ...

The Renault adverts just aren't the same in Britain ...

I was reading about this at http://www.losmejoresanunciosdetelevision.com/2007/09/17/renault-un-coche-ecologico-queremos-tener/ , a website of the best Spanish TV adverts. The comments are also worth a quick read if you have the time and quite revealing about the different attitudes to environmentally friendlier transport.

Espanoles en el Mundo

Just thought I'd let you know (if you haven't already seen them) about all the Espanoles en el Mundo episodes available with RTVE.es - if you go to the RTVE homepage, follow the link to RTVE a la Carta and finally go to Programas.

EspaƱoles en el mundo

The 'Espanoles en el Mundo' series is a great way to learn Spanish - the episodes last about an hour and basically the presenter goes and meets 4 or 5 really interesting Spanish people living in different cities around the world. The conversations are therefore usually very friendly and informal and the range of themes very wide so your vocab will be widened considerably.

I'd especially recommend the Costa Rica episode which I found really provided an interesting insight into a country I didn't know much about before - I think I may have to go and visit now because it looks an amazing place !!!

Check out this link for the episode archive: http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/videos/espanoles-en-el-mundo/
